We are proud to announce Little Brain Big Brain (LBBB) 2026, the XIXth biannual meeting on neurogastroenterology organized by and for young investigators in the field.

Little Brain Big Brain (LBBB) is a unique scientific retreat that brings together 30 carefully selected early/mid-career clinical and research scientists in neurogastroenterology for immersive, high‑level scientific exchange. The 2026 meeting will take place in Fusagasugá, Colombia, from 31st October – 4th November 2026, continuing a 36‑year legacy of advancing gut–brain science.

About the conference

LBBB was established in 1990 by a group of outstanding young investigators with a vision that challenged the status quo of scientific conference style. The four foundational principles are

1)        Exclusive participation of early/mid-career clinical and research scientists.
2)        Presentation of unpublished, cutting-edge research.
3)        Extended discussion without time limits.
4)        Commitment to supporting travel for attendees (travel grants).

These features fostered the development of new ways of thinking and have been the foundation of many successful collaborations. Former participants have also become world-renowned scientific leaders that advanced the field of neurogastroenterology over the last 30 years. In Colombia in 2026, we will continue this tradition.

Program Overview & Topics

LBBB endeavors to focus on the most exciting and current themes in the field of neurogastroenterology and motility. This includes:

  • Gut-Brain axis & Metabolism

  • Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction

  • Developmental disorders of the enteric nervous system

  • Gut microbiota

  • Immunology & Inflammation

These topics are highly relevant for human disease and align with emerging industry priorities in obesity therapeutics, microbiome-targeting therapies, neuromodulation, and GI inflammation
